10 YEARS PITTORESKA: INTENSIVE & WORKSHOPS

✩ OLGA MEOS 15-HOUR PERFORMANCE INTENSIVE ✩

Expirience a unique opportunity created by the one and only Olga Meos from Estonia/Kazakhstan to level up your dance and artistry. You will learn a choreography created especially for this event and perform it together with Olga and the group on stage in the TENTAKEL SPEKTAKEL show on Saturday, August 10th, 2024. 

This is an open level experience, so all levels are welcome. You will get a prerecorded video a few weeks ahead of the intensive, that MUST be learned. In class you will polish the moves as well as the choreography. Staging will be set by complexety and capability of the dancers. Olga provides the costumes for the whole group, especially made for this project and tailored for you. The costume fee (40-60 Euro) is not included in the intensive fee. Olga will be in touch with the group a few weeks ahead of the intensive about all of this :-)

This is an opportunity for every dancer to experience professional rehearsal and performance, get challenged but master it TOGETHER as a community on stage. All of this is delivered to you through her unique individual approach to learning, creativity and skill development.

ABOUT OLGA MEOS

The dance does not provide answers, but rather asks a question.

Olga Meos from Kazakhstan, currently living in Estonia is the creator and director of Tribal Pro. dance group/community, the organizer of the biggest festival of this genre in Kazakhstan «Tribal-KZ» and an innovative choreographer, performer and teacher. She practices a unique individual approach to learning, which contributes to the creation of a favorable environment for the development of creativity and dance skills. She travelling all over the world with a teaching experience of 17 years.

Saturday 12:30–14:30 | DanceCraft® Inspired Choreo: Narod with Anji

Location: Studio Pittoreska

To an epic Balkan trap song, we create a powerful, earthy choreography whose special charm lies in its expressive movements. Slow-flowing short phrases are contrasted with accentuated old-school moves from Zoe Jakes' DanceCraft® vocabulary, creating a varied choreography that bridges the gap between tradition and modernity.

Movement variations for different levels of difficulty are offered.

Saturday 15:00–17:00 | Combos, Pathways & Layerings with Anji

Location: Studio Pittoreska

This workshop is for anyone who is interested in new moves and beautiful movement material and/or wants to give their creativity a boost. We will learn various foot patterns, beautiful, flowing arm patterns and simple but effective isolation patterns, which we will first rehearse individually and then layer on top of each other in various combinations. This results in beautiful new combos and also one or two new physical challenges. Feel free to use the sequences for your own creations!

Anji is a Fusion Bellydance teacher, choreographer and performer based in Freiburg, Germany. Her artistic focus and dedication lies on the West-Coast Bellydance scene and styles, where she continues to train yearly. In the training concept and the aesthetics and stylization of DanceCraft she currently found her favorite match. The intense training and collaboration with Zoe Jakes and repeated performing with Beats Antique have strongly shaped her artistic path.

Anji is also a certified Datura Style™ Teacher (Rachel Brice) and Integrated Dance (Ashley Lopez), Krysalis (Kami Liddle), Alchemy (Jill Parker), Elizabeth Strong and Mira Betz student and practitioner. Her cross-training in Germany include Popping, Hip Hop, Dancehall, Flamenco, Yoga and Pilates.

As a teacher she believes in positive reaches, kindness, community and a growth mindset. As a performer Anji’s strong and striking presence intrigues the audience as she brings her prickly magic to the stage.

Sunday 10:00–14:00 | Liquid Fusion Mini-Intensive with Melli

Location: TBA

Get a little insight of Melli's Liquid Fusion Dance Intensive to deepen your liquid flow and explore new ways to wave inside the body. During this especially for Switzerland designed Intensive we will focus on Biomechanics, waving basics combined with bellydance, specific exercises that will help make your body move smoother and of course her favorite liquid combos. The intensive is open level, and she will give higher level options for more advanced dancers. Lets flow together!

Melli Sarina is a worldwide known fusion style bellydance teacher and performer. She is famous for her water like and controlled movements, known as her liquid fusion style and her very well structured and sports therapeutics based teaching. While touring as a teacher she constantly tries to increase her knowledge in sports therapeutics and dance skills especially in waving. In 2022 she created her own educational format called „Liquid Fusion Intensive“ to give students a chance to not only understand and work with the body effectively but also to give them the possibility to find their own liquid dance style.

Sunday 14:30–16:30 | SEAMLESS with Olga Meos

Location: TBA

This class is about dancing with harmonious «seamless» transitions between movements, as well as how to transfer body weight with ease and naturalness. It will provide you the opportunity to develop your flexibility, coordination and technical skills, as well as enrich your dance aesthetic.

The transfer of body weight is a basic element in dance and allows you to create dynamic and spectacular movements. We will learn how to properly distribute body weight, make smooth and seamless transitions between different positions, and transfer weight from one leg to the other.

We will also work on musical expressiveness. We will explore the meaning of musicality in the transitions between movements. You will learn to feel the rhythm and phrasing of the music, adapting your transitions to musical highlights.

USEFUL INFORMATION & IMPORTANT CONDITIONS

What is the refund policy?

All registrations are binding, non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another course/workshop. The GTC of Pittoreska Dance & Movement apply.

Which payments do you accept?

Our accounts are in Swiss Francs. Regardless of which currency you transfer in, please make sure to cover any conversion rates and transfer fees so we receive the full amount in Swiss Francs. Apart from bank transfer, we accept Wise (info@pittoreska.com) and Revolut (please contact info@pittoreska.com). No Paypal.

Can I pay by instalments?

Payment by instalments is possible for total amounts above CHF 300. Upon registration, minimum amount of CHF 150 is due to secure your spot. 

Is my registration transferable to another person? If you are unable to attend, you can transfer your place to another participant, which is your responsibility. Please contact info@pittoreska.com and in case there is a waiting list, you will be put in touch with the next person on the list so you can process the transfer directly with each other. Once you have sold your spot, please send an email to info@pittoreska.com (cc: the new participant) confirming that you have officially transferred your spot and providing us their contact information.

Can I apply to perform in the show?

You are welcome to apply. Just know that performance spots are very limited and there is no guarantee. We prioritize guest teachers and their projects, as well as a selection of Studio Pittoreska students and projects and we aim to keep the duration of the show at a comfortable length for the audience. To apply, please send us a link to a recent performance video of you along with a short description of your planned act (style, props, etc.).

What about accommodation and parking in St. Gallen?

The city centre is very small and everything is within walking distance. There are several car parks in the city centre, but they are relatively expensive. The outdoor parking spaces in the neighbourhood are cheaper, but usually limited in time. You can buy daily or monthly permits for unlimited parking in certain zones. You can find more information here. 

Hotels are relatively expensive in Switzerland and it's a good idea to check out Airbnb options. Dancers stayed at the EH Apartments Merkur (formerly TouchBed City Apartments) before, which they found highly recommendable. To help you find your way around St. Gallen, we have created a map of all sorts of places we found useful.
