ABOUT KRYSALIS
The objective of the overall program is to help dancers develop and refine their knowledge base and to experience and elevate the dancer through four individual courses. The intention is not to teach dancers to dance a particular way, but rather, to nurture the path of each dancer and give them the tools to create their own authentic movement.
Krysalis consists of four courses:
Invocation: Foundation of Contemporary Fusion Belly Dance Technique
Expansion: Professional Performance Intensive
Conception: Choreography Creation Lab
Elevation*: Advanced Technique
*Courses can be taken individually and in no particular order except for Elevation which requires certification of Invocation before enrolling.

WHAT IS CONTEMPORARY FUSION BELLY DANCE?
Kami refers to this style as fusing present-day belly dance genres with contemporary dance. Contemporary fusion belly dance combines strong leg and foot work with fluidity in the spine and precision in the torso. It emphasizes strength and flexibility, rhythmic and musical phrasing, and most importantly, self-expression.
ABOUT EXPANSION
EXPANSION is a weeklong intensive designed for upper intermediate/advanced dancers. This program is geared towards dedicated, hard-working students interested in taking their artistic abilities to the next level through intensive training and creative collaboration, culminating in a final performance in the show "Das Tentakel Spektakel" in St. Gallen at the end of the intensive.
Improve your technique through daily classes while expanding your movement base and choreography skills as you delve into Kami’s repertory of contemporary belly dance movements.
The week will culminate in a professional performance. The show will be professionally filmed and each Expansion dancer will be credited as a performer.
The intimate class size of 15 students offers hands on attention with Kami Liddle and her particular style. In order to keep the level high and challenge each dancer, students will be required to complete an application and submit a video highlighting their abilities.
ABOUT THE CHOREOGRAPHY
Kami creates a 2 to 3 part choreography combining elements of contemporary dance and tribal fusion dance. The piece will showcase each dancer to their fullest potential and highlight their strong points.
Expansion students will receive combos and snippets of choreography via video in advance to study and practice before arriving. Students are expected to know these movement phrases when they arrive on the first day in the studio so that they can be easily integrated into the choreography.

ABOUT KAMI LIDDLE
Kami Liddle has been a student of dance since she was 4 years old including ballet, tap, jazz, modern and hip hop. After a brief interlude as a musician, Kami reunited with dance when she was 18 years old when she began to study cabaret style belly dance until she found her passion in improvisational belly dance via Fat Chance Belly Dance. Kami holds a B.A. in Art with a Minor in Dance from the University of Nevada, Reno.
In 2005, Kami auditioned and was invited to join the Bellydance Superstars (BDSS), a professionally touring belly dance company produced by music industry legend Miles Copeland. Beginning as a principal dancer, Kami soon became a soloist and contributing choreographer. In 2007, she became the Director of the ‘Tribal Superstars,’ the tribal fusion belly dance ensemble of BDSS.
In 2010 Kami decided to leave BDSS in order to pursue her art as a solo artist and work collaboratively with dancer and musician Zoe Jakes and Beats Antique, a musical group that incorporates live dance and performance in their multimedia shows and music videos. Kami toured the U.S. with Beats Antique for 2 years and is also featured in their music videos “Revival” and “Cat Skillz.”
Kami decided to leave Beats Antique in 2012 to meet the continued request for additional solo performances has been hosted in over 20 countries as a performer and teacher since.
In order to fulfill her artistic vision and use her abilities to the fullest, Kami decided to return to her love of group choreography. Selecting five colleagues from an array of the Bay Area’s leading belly dance companies, Kami formed Gold Star Dance Company in early 2013. Together they set out to combine this young and constantly evolving dance style with elements of jazz, modern, hip hop and classical ballet. They have performed on for numerous events including the main stage at the festival Lightning in a Bottle, for Lucas Films at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, and 2 West Coast tours with Bay Area based band Junk Parlor. Gold Star Dance Company and Kami Liddle’s choreography is featured in Junk Parlor’s music video “Si Tu Savais” and Kami is featured on percussion on their latest album “Melusina.”

IMPORTANT INFORMATION & CONDITIONS
Can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Absolutely! Please read through all of the information thoroughly before emailing in case your question is already answered. How about accommodation and parking in St. Gallen?
The city center is very small and everything is in walking distance.
Hotels are quite expensive (as is parking) in Switzerland, though. It might be a better idea to check Airbnb options. Also, you are always welcome to post in our facebook events/groups to connect with other participants and find roommates. To help you get around in St. Gallen we created a map for you with places that we thought to be useful (also hotels if you want to check them out anyway). We do care that everyone has a nice and comfortable place to stay and will also check in with the participants at some point before the event.
For parking there are several parking garages in the city center, however, they are very expensive. The outdoor parking spaces in the streets are cheaper but primarily short-term. You can obtain permits (daily or monthly) for unlimited parking in specific areas. You can find more information about that here.
Can I pay in Euro instead of Swiss Francs?
Yes, if you live outside of Switzerland you can also make your payment in Euro. You will receive all the payment information after the application process.
Is there a payment plan available?
Upon notification that your application got accepted, a minimum deposit of CHF 300.- (or EUR 300.-) is due within 5 days to secure your spot. The remaining CHF 500.- (or EUR 470.-) are due before 31st December, 2020.
If you are in need of a further payment plan, please contact info@pittoreska.com so we can discuss options. A processing fee of CHF 10.- (of EUR 10.-) applies to individual payment plans.
What’s the refund policy?
All sales are final and not transferable to another course. While there are no refunds on tuition, it is possible to transfer your spot to another dancer.
Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?
If you are not able to attend you may sell your spot to another student. Selling or transferring your spot is your responsibility. To sell your spot, please first email info@pittoreska.com. If there is a waitlist, you will be connected with the first student on the waitlist to manage payment* for the spot together. If there is no waitlist, you may seek out other students to purchase your spot. Once the spot has been purchased, please send an email to info@pittoreska.com (ccing the new student) confirming you have received the payment and are officially transferring your spot. All accommodations will be made for transfers up to 30 days before the first day of the course.
*Note: Transfer payments are the responsibility of the student selling their spot.
Do I have to bring my printed confirmation of participation/payment to the event?
No, we will have all of your info with us on the first day of class.
Amanda Pittoreska, Kami Liddle and her staff have the right to deny enrollment or participation to anyone at any time before or during the course.
This intensive is limited to 15 participants only to guarantee a comfortable class size and learning environment, so save your spot! If the event is sold-out we do open a waiting list. Please contact info@pittoreska.com to join. The waiting list is on a first come first serve base.
